Fort Knox Mailboxes are made 100% in America, by Americans, for those who are ready for serious mail protection. We are FORT KNOX. The rest are just mailboxes.
Our Doors
We know that the most common way of getting into a traditional locking mailbox is by prying open the door. The door of a mailbox is very important! Our doors are all recessed, which means that they’re inset to eliminate all pry points. The doors are 3/16” steel with a 2” continuous hinge. They are reinforced with an angle-iron welded to the door.

Our Welding
All Fort Knox Mailboxes are hand-welded, by a real person, with real attention to detail. There are no spot welds or rivets. We understand that the welds must be strong, or security is compromised. All back plates, hinges, doors, and parts are welded.
Our Mail Slots
Our incoming mail slots are 1.75” tall. They’re as narrow as possible and still meet USPS requirements for a locking mailbox. A narrow slot is vital, so that thieves can not reach down into the mailbox.
Also at the incoming mail slot is an extension of metal that goes directly back into the mailbox for 7 inches. This prevents long, skinny arms from reaching far inside. It also serves as an anti-fishing deterrent. When fishing is attempted, this shelf prevents mail from coming up and out of the mailbox.

The World’s Most Secure Mailboxes
Perhaps you’ve been frustrated with other locking mailboxes. Check out why Fort Knox Mailboxes are NOT your average locking mailbox. No other mailboxes are made with our materials, design, and precision.
Incredible Durability and Strength
Let us demonstrate why your Fort Knox Mailbox, engineered for high-security durability and proudly made in the USA, is built to withstand even the most outrageous tests of strength. With unparalleled durability, our secure mailbox will be a steadfast fixture in front of your house for decades to come, providing peace of mind and protection for your deliveries.
They can withstand extreme situations
We do love to hear customers’ stories, and over the years, we’ve heard a lot! Here are some things that Fort Knox Mailboxes withstand:
- Baseball Bats – We love to say that we’ve been “breaking bats since 1994.” Seriously, a baseball bat is no match for our ¼” steel shells. Anyone who hits one with a baseball bat will have serious regrets.
- Sledge Hammers – Our mailboxes can really take a beating.
- Vehicles – We’ve certainly heard of many vehicles hitting our mailboxes over the years. The mailbox always wins! Most customers can simply re-install the mailbox. The mailbox usually suffers some scratches, and at most, a post might need replacing. But the mailbox always does the job.
- Snow Plows – Heavy plows can occasionally hit our mailboxes, but you’re not going to have to worry about the Fort Knox Mailbox withstanding.
- Mailbox Bombs and Fire Crackers – We’ve heard it all! Think of the Fort Knox Mailbox as many pounds of steel armor.

We believe hard-working Americans shouldn’t have to worry about their mail.
Life used to be much simpler, a bit kinder. A generation ago, no one worried about mail-theft. A locking mailbox was unheard of. But times have drastically changed and now Americans lock their houses, their cars, everything. Why wouldn’t we also protect our mail, where so much private information flows?
At the end of a long day, you have a million things on your mind, but whether your mail will be in your mailbox should NOT be one of those worries. Create space to relax, unwind, and sort your mail at the end of your day. You work hard for everything in life. So protect it.
Check out all that would be very vulnerable in the hands of a thief:
- Bank Statements
- Social Security Information
- Prescription Medication
- Private Correspondence
- Tax Information
- Online Shopping Purchases
Once thieves access these items, they can steal your finances, damage your credit, and even take over your identity. We talk with customers from all over the states, who have had their identities stolen, and it is costly, time consuming, and emotionally draining to restore.
We REPLACE other brands of locking mailboxes, every day. All locking mailboxes are constructed differently, and it MATTERS what materials, designs, and safeguards are used to prevent theft.

Our Locks
A mailbox is only as strong as its lock. So, locks are of extreme importance! Our 7-pin tubular lock is included on all our mailboxes and is equivalent to a vending machine lock. We also offer a variety of upgraded locks, including hardened steel locks, vault locks, and slam locks. We offer double-locked options and simply, the highest security locks available.

Our Posts
Our posts are sold separately from our mailboxes and bolt from underneath with carriage bolts, so that no theft of the mailbox is possible. Our posts are made of 10 gauge square tubing (or 1/8” inch). In-ground posts are designed to be buried approximately 2 feet in the ground, with cement. If you’re planning to use a pre-existing post, make sure it can support the weight of your Fort Knox Mailbox!
- Bunker: 1/8” Steel Flag
- Enforcer: 3/16” Steel Flag
- All other mailboxes: 1/4” Steel Flag
Sand Blasting and Powder-Coating
After construction, all Fort Knox Mailboxes go through our rigorous sand-blasting process. All oil and debris are removed to create a clean, adherable surface.
Then, our mailboxes go into our powder-coating booth, to pre-heat to over 300 degrees. Colored powder, which is finely ground particles of pigment and resin, is then sprayed onto the mailboxes with electro-static bonding and placed back in the oven to cure at 400 degrees.
Powder-coating is superior to painting. It is an advanced finish designed to survive outside, in the elements. Powder-coating is what theme parks use on their trash cans, railings, and benches for longevity.

Final Inspection and Shipping
Each Fort Knox Mailbox is carefully inspected, by a real person, before packaging. Locks are installed, address numbers affixed, and accessories added.
We then use the very best packaging materials possible to package up these HEAVY mailboxes! It’s important that they arrive in perfect condition and over the years, we’ve perfected our packaging process. First, we wrap each mailbox in protective plastic wrap. Then we surround all sides with high density foam, double-corrugated cardboard, tape, strapping, and a lot of sticker signage!
